Advanced Waste Services, Inc. is an environmental services company specializing in hazardous and nonhazardous waste collection, transportation, disposal and onsite cleaning services.
  
In December 2007, Advanced Waste Services, Inc. purchased Castle Environmental, Inc., a nonhazardous liquid waste collection and service business in New Castle, Pennsylvania.
  
The acquisition of Castle Environmental, which also operated a nonhazardous wastewater processing facility just outside of New Castle, expands Advanced Waste Services locations to now include Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin. The new 35,000 sq. ft. facility was rebuilt following a fire in late 2008.
  
Advanced Waste Services removes hazardous materials from industrial wastewater and sludge. After being processed, the water is sent to the New Castle STP, a municipal sewer treatment system that dumps into the Beaver River watershed, which eventually feeds into the Ohio River. The solid waste is taken to a hazardous materials landfill.
