Our look at
CHIEF OIL & GAS

  

Based in Dallas, Texas, Chief got its start in North Texas in 1994. In 1997, Chief Oil & Gas, LLC drilled its first well in Barnett Shale. Chief began drilling in the Appalachian Basin and Marcellus Shale in 2007.
  
In August 2009, Chief and Tug Hill entered into a joint development agreement with Enerplus Resources Fund, an open-end investment trust. Based in Calgary, Enerplus was the first Canadian royalty trust, and now does oil and gas work in western Canada and the United States. 2009 production outlook is 58% natural gas, 42% crude oil & natural gas liquids.
  
Chief Gathering LLC is a subsidiary of Chief Oil & Gas, which operates and constructs natural gas pipelines.
  
Chief and Tug Hill are among the largest leaseholders in Marcellus Shale. Based in Fort Worth Texas, Tug Hill is a private diversified investment firm with most of its investments in the US oil and gas sector.
