On June 2, 2009, Atlas Pipeline Partners, LP announced
a
joint venture with Tulsa, Oklahoma based
Williams Companies to form Laurel Mountain Midstream, LLC.
The Laurel Mountain venture will develop and expand Atlas Energy's presence in
the SW
Pennsylvania Marcellus Shale play.
The new
joint venture in the Appalachian Basin owns 1,800 miles of
intrastate natural gas gathering lines that service nearly 7,000 gas
wells.
Atlas' affiliate,
Atlas
Energy Resources, LLC, which produces and drills Marcellus Shale
gas wells,
will be the primary tenant on the system. Atlas Pipeline will hold a 49% equity interest in
Laurel Mountain Midstream.
