SALEM, Ohio — October appears to have been a slower
month for the number of shale drilling permits issued by
the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Harrison
County led the state in the number of permits issued
during October, with a total of nine permits granted.
Five of those permits were issued in Athens Township to
Hess Ohio Developments. Three permits were issued in
Short Creek Township to American Energy Utica, and one
in German Township to Chesapeake Exploration.
Marcellus Air : Ohio
includes flights over eastern Ohio's shale gas drilling, where the
Marcellus Shale and Utica Shale overlap. Most of the shale gas
drilling photos on this page were taken over
Jefferson County; Mahoning County; and Monroe County, Ohio.
Aerial photos of natural gas drilling and processing near
Cadiz, Carrollton, Columbiana, Harlem Springs, Kensington, Scio,
Summerfield, New Middleton and Lisbon, Ohio
are all included on this page.
The best way to see
gas production is from the air!
