Our look at
MULTI-CHEM

UPDATES

February 2010 - The Redevelopment Authority of Washington County entered into a contract with TranSystems Corp. for engineering services related to the installation of a rail spur on the new Multi-Chem site in Washington, Pa. The spur will come off the Allegheny Valley Railroad line.

The frac water treatment company Multi-Chem provides customized specialty chemicals to the worldwide energy market, including oilfield products, gas well treatments and pipeline solutions. Multi-Chem claims to be the fastest growing company in the production chemicals industry.

San Angelo, Texas based Multi-Chem was founded in 1993 and now has over 60 facilities worldwide. The company is leasing two newly constructed buildings, along with 4-acres of the old 10-acre Glass Ball Co. site on Detroit Street in Washington, Pa directly below Washington Elementary School.

Multi-Chem works primarily with Range Resources, but does other work for Atlas Energy, EQT and Energy Corp. of America. Multi-Chem concentrates on secondary production, which involves getting the most out of existing gas wells that appear to have run dry. Remaining gas can usually be extracted by pumping a chemical/water mixture into the gas well.
