National Fuel was incorporated in 1902 and has four major segments: Energy Marketing, Exploration & Production, Pipeline & Storage, and Utility.
  • Energy MarketingNational Fuel Resources, Inc. provides commercial, industrial, public authorities and residential clients with energy management services, as well as the brokerage and marketing of electricity and natural gas, in the northeastern US.
  • Exploration & Production Seneca Resources Corporation develops, explores and purchases natural gas and oil reserves in California, the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana, the Southwest, the Appalachian Basin and the western provinces of Canada.
  • Pipeline & StorageNational Fuel Gas Supply Corporation uses an integrated 2,972 mile natural gas pipeline, that extends from the Niagara River at the NY-Canada border to southwestern Pennsylvania, to provide storage and transmission to various companies.
In 1993, operations began on the 157-mile Empire State Pipeline that runs from Syracuse to a TransCanada Pipeline near Buffalo, NY. Empire provides natural gas transportation to industry, utilities and power producers in central and western NY, as well as various interstate pipelines.
  • UtilityNational Fuel Gas Distribution Corporation transports or sells natural gas to over 700,000 customers in NW Pennsylvania and western NY, including cities like Buffalo, Erie and Niagara Falls.
