Plant construction continued in Scio,
Ohio in late-2013 as seen in the photos below. This fractionation
plant is one of the links in a network of gas processing plants
which also includes Hopedale, Ohio; Follansbee Junction, WV;
Moundsville Natrium in WV and the cryogenic gas plant in Houston,
PA, for Sunoco Pipeline L.P.
(a Texas limited partnership) that held an open season in 2012 for a
propane/ethane pipeline known as
Project Mariner East
which traverses Pennsylvania from the gas plant in Houston, PA to
the 800-acre Sunoco Partners Marketing & Terminals L.P. complex in
Marcus Hook, PA and Claymont, DE.
In early December 2013 a second open
season was announced for
Project Mariner East 2
involving the construction of a pipeline from this M3 Midstream
fractionation plant in Scio, Ohio to the expanding Marcus Hook
Industrial Complex on the Delaware River. With commercial pipeline
transport anticipated to begin in early-2016, shippers began making
volume commitments for ethane, propane and butane shipments, as well
as any combination of all three natural gas liquids (NGL's).
Enterprise Products Partners L.P.
announced in early December 2013 that this Utica East Ohio Scio
plant would be one of four fractionators (Scio, Ohio; Houston, Pa;
Cadiz, Ohio; Blue Racer Natrium,
WV) in the Marcellus-Utica Shale region shipping
through their 1,230 mile long ATEX pipeline to Mont Belvieu, Texas
beginning in early 2014.
